JACK CUST TAKES CHEAP SHOT AT RED SOX (and Mitchell Report)

Jack Cust blasted the Mitchell Report, claiming that it intentionally omitted Boston Red Sox players and relied on “a bunch of hearsay.”

Cust is mentioned in the Mitchell Reports. He is said to have had a discussion with Larry Bigbie while the two were in the minors and Cust asked Bigbie if he had ever tried steroids. Bigbie said yes. Cust then said that he had tried steroids as well.

Cust told the Associated Press:

"With all the other stuff going on, with a lot of the guys coming out recently - big-name guys - to me it's kind of funny they spent all that money on the Mitchell Report and a bunch of hearsay and the guy who made all the money off it happened to work for the Red Sox. Were there any Red Sox on the report? How does that happen?"

My question is: Who is Jack Cust? Is that a character out of Dick Tracy or something? Have you ever heard of him? I googled his name and nothing came up. The search engine suggested I search “Jack Cost.” That’s how irrelevant he is.

I checked baseballreference.com and learned that he currently plays for the Oakland As but I couldn’t even find out what position he plays.

Cust went on to say that he has never failed a drug test. To that I say, neither did Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens or Andy Pettite.

Umm..why did I just waste 250 words talking about this guy???

  1. Someone blogging on baseball should be able to know who Jack Cust is, and even if you don't you should know how to use a computer/ search engine, since there are plenty of hits for him on the web.
