John Smoltz is a first ballot hall of famer. He is a big reason why the Braves won the World Series in 1995. He is a class act and a true “gamer.” But we must admit, it was painful to watch towards the end. Watching him walk to the mound was like watching an old dog try to get onto the couch.
Give Theo credit. It was a worthy experiment--cheap money, a guy with a proven record. But in the end, it was just time.
Good luck with your career as a professional golfer, John Smoltz (he really is a good golfer). We hardly knew thee.
