SOMETHING FOR RED SOX NATION TO SMILE ABOUT

Baseball is a beautiful thing. Its unscripted drama. And sometimes the story lines sound like something out of an ABC after school special or a bad Disney sports movie.

Paul Byrd hadn't thrown one pitch in the big leagues in 2009. He came into Fenway Park Sunday and threw six scoreless innings. Did I mention that he was pitching against one of best pitchers in the American League. And here are the numbers from Sundays game:

Roy Halladay: 6 Innings pitched, 4 earned runs

Paul Byrd: 6 innings pitched, 0 earned runs

If I had woken up Sunday morning and predicted that these would be the pitching lines, Id have been laughed at. Well, baseball is a beautiful thing and Monday is an off day in Red Sox Nation. So bask in it ya'll. Let's not be negative tommorrow. Paul Byrd pitched a hell of a game. Enjoy it Nation.
