RED SOX GAMES NO LONGER ON WRKO 680 AM EFFECTIVE AUG 26

Effective August 26 2009, ALL Red Sox games will be broadcast on WEEI 850 AM. WEEI announced the change today in what appears to be yet another counter strike against 98.5 The Sports Hub. To quote the great (and I use that sarcastically) Glen Ordway, do you think WEEI 850 AM is ascared of 98.5 The Sports Hub? haha

Most Red Sox games were broadcast on WRKO 680 AM up until the announcement today.

The ratings for 98.5 The Sports Hub have yet to be released but the fact that Red Sox games will now exclusively be broadcast on WEEI 850 AM means they are scared. 98.5 has exclusive broadcasting rights to Bruins and Patriots games and WEEI knows that they are going to lose listeners because of it.

WEEI has masked their fear by saying that the change has been in the works for a while. Supposedly, WRKO 680 AM was disappointing that on the day Michael Jackson died, they cut to a Red Sox game 30 minutes after the announcement. Yea, ok.

Someone has finally challenged WEEI to a fight...and the crazy thing is, WEEI actually feels the need to make changes because of it! OUCH!
