If you need further proof that the Bruins got the better end of the Phil Kessel deal, look no further.
According to a Las Vegas oddsmakers (Las Vegas Hilton Sports Book), the over/under on total points for the Toronto Maples Leafs this coming season is at 85.5 points…which is slightly higher than their 81 points last season, but a total that will probably leave the Maple Leafs out of the playoffs again.
So, the Toronto Maple Leafs gave up two first round draft choices and a second round draft choice for a player who is expected to win them MAYBE 2 more games this year compared to last year. WOW.
The Bruins, who led the Eastern Conference with 116 points last season, opened at over/under 101.5 points….which would make them a playoff team. And remember, those two draft picks from Toronto will make them a contender for at least the next 5 years of so.
The teams in the Eastern Conference with the highest over/under were:
Washington Capitals 104.5
Philadelphia Flyers 102.5
Pittsburgh Penguins 102.5
Boston Bruins 101.5
New Jersey Devils 96.5
