ESPN RADIO and WEEI JOIN FORCES TO TAKE ON 98.5 THE SPORTS HUB

You will soon hear ESPN radio on WEEI 850 AM.

Why you ask? Gee, maybe because the rating for September come out today and maybe 98.5 The Sports Hub is actually stealing some of WEEI’s audience.

Here are the details:

WEEI will pay to broadcast ESPN programming (mostly overnight and weekends) on their airwaves, get exclusive access to ESPN on air talent for WEEI shows and get NBA playoffs, the BCS national championship game, and, beginning immediately, baseball postseason games.

There are rumors that Entercom, which owns WEEI, will soon move WEEI to FM and put ESPN radio on the 850 AM signal. Entercom owns WAAF 107.3 and 93.7 MIKE FM so look for one of these stations to become all sports talk in the near future.

98.5 The Sports Hub has no doubt forced WEEI to make these changes. The question is: is the 98.5 The Sports Hub lineup of on air talent, which includes, Michael Felger, Tony Massarotti, Gary Tanguay, Scott Zolak and "Toucher and Rich" really that good?

I guess so. Stay tuned...
