Padres GM Jed Hoyer "Comfortable" Making a Deal With Red Sox For Adrian Gonzalez

Padres GM and former Red Sox Assistant GM Jed Hoyer said that he would feel more comfortable making a trade with the Red Sox than any other team because he knows the Red Sox prospects better than other teams prospects.

According to WEEI:

There’s a comfort level in that, and frankly, I guess, a lack of risk compared to some other transactions where you don’t have the same level of knowledge. Certainly, putting it in the context of Adrian, that’s just speculation, but it is true that we know those players very well

Let The Conspiracy Theories Begin!

That doesn’t necessarily mean the Red Sox would be willing to trade any of those prospects.

Remember, Theo knows those prospects as well as Jed does and has a history of not trading top prospects for impact players who can help the team in the short term.

In Amalie Benjamins piece in the Sunday Boston Globe Theo said, “90 percent of our time as baseball operations is spent trying to build the foundation and build our long-term outlook. Ten percent of our time is spent maximizing our competitiveness in any one particular year.”

Hey Jed, good luck prying those prospects from his cold dead hands.
