Peter Gammons will be leaving ESPN to join NESN as a studio analyst and reporter for Red Sox pregame and postgame shows.
He will also contribute to NESN.com.
Red Sox fans are being spoiled. NESN does an amazing job with Red Sox broadcasts as well as off season programming like Red Sox Classics, Red Sox Hot Stove, etc (THANK THE GOOD LORD ABOVE that NESN cancelled Sox Appeal).
Now they have hired one of the all time great baseball minds.
Gammons covered the Red Sox for the Boston Globe from 1969–1975, 1978–1986 and worked for Sports Illustrated as lead baseball columnist from 1976–78, 1986–90.
He joined ESPN in 1988.
Peter Gammons was a 2005 National Baseball Hall Of Fame honoree and has recorded an album called Never Slow Down, Never Grown Old in 2006 in which he plays guitar and sings.
Gammons will also be an on-air analyst for the MLB network and MLB.com.
