Is Jacoby Ellsbury The New Manny Ramirez?
He has a phantom injury and Scott Boras as an agent. No, Im not talking about Manny Ramirez. Im talking about Jacoby Ellsbury.
He is sitting out because of "recurring discomfort." According to the Providence Journal, Dr. Lewis Yocum did not seem to find anything drastically wrong, or offer a wholly new diagnosis regarding Ellsbury's four cracked ribs.
So basically Jacoby Ellsbury is hurt (not injured but hurt) and refuses to play sore.
Ellsbury is showing all the signs of becoming the next Manny Ramirez. Not in terms of talent or demand….but in terms of being the Red Sox new pre madonna.
This is getting ridiculous. Hockey players get teeth knocked out and finish the game. Football players play with pulled hamstrings, bruised ribs, etc all the time.
I almost lost my marbles when Josh Beckett was put on the disabled list a couple of years ago with a blister. If Jacoby continues to sit out with soreness, Im going to become a fan of figure skating…lord knows they are tougher than baseball players.

There is NO comparison between Manny and Jacoby. How many times did he crash into the green monster last year or dive head first for fly balls in the outfeld? Is all that forgotten? Let's find out exactly what Dr. Yocum has to say before we judge him to be a wimp.
ReplyDeleteummmm...did you even read this article? Second paragraph:
ReplyDelete"Dr. Lewis Yocum did not seem to find anything drastically wrong, or offer a wholly new diagnosis regarding Ellsbury's four cracked ribs."
Ellsbury is a faker...just like Manny was regarding his knees.
Beckett's blister was on a finger of his pitching hand, not on his butt, so of course it needed to heal before he could throw.
ReplyDeleteEllsbury has cracked ribs, why can't he have the time to heal? The kid plays all out, he'll never heal making diving catches like he did when he first came back, not fair to paint him as another Manny.
Jon Heyman said this morning that a "more extensive" injury was found by Dr. Yocum. Twitter update from Nick Cafardo says there was indeed a "new" injury found in his back that was caused by diving in Tampa and Dr. Yocum says he needs 2-4 weeks of rest. The ProJo wrote that last night without much information and from the watered down comments of Terry Francona, who told us 8 weeks ago that Ellsbury would be back in "a couple days" and obviously has no clue what he's talking about.
ReplyDeleteThis blog really deserves its name.
Pre madonna...
