From BostonHerald.com:
So if you take away April and last week, the Red Sox have played very well? Is that not one of the most twisted quotes you've ever read? The Red Sox front office is coming across as a bad PR firm. The spin they're put out there is laughable.“I don’t think blowing it up makes sense for where we are. There’s a lot of talent on the team. We’re right in the thick of the wild card chase. We’ve played very well since the beginning of May aside from the last week. I just think it would be foolish to start doing things that got in the way of giving us a chance this year."
The Red Sox are 2.5 games out of the second wild card spot. That isnt exactly "in the thick of the wild card race." On top of that, they have a .500 record. They are a mediocre team that isnt going anywhere and Ben Cherington thinks blowing it up doesnt make any sense?
The dude has no balls. Thats what it comes down to. They are content on being mediocre and as a Red Sox die hard, it is enraging.
Maybe its time for the Red Sox owners to do us all a favor and really blow the whole damn thing up. Start paying teams to take your garbage players, fire Bobby Valentine and fire Ben Cherington.
It isnt working. It just isnt working.
