On Wednesday, Bobby Valentine was on WEEI and said that he still thinks the Red Sox will make the playoffs. To be exact, he said, "I think we're a playoff team and I think we're going to be there before the season is over."
There is no way friggin Bobby Valentine truly believes the Red Sox will make the playoffs. The guy isnt that much of an assclown. Either he is just fucking with the media in order to get his name in the papers or he got direct orders from upper management to try and spin this shitshow and sway public opinion.
Bobby Valentine has been around baseball a long time and he's not stupid. He knows this Red Sox team is a .500 team loaded with a bunch of lazy, underachieving starters who dont give a shit about winning anymore and a closer who isnt really a closer.
I understand he cant come out and speak his mind but saying that he thinks this team is a playoff team is a friggin joke and makes him look like a friggin tool. This is why people laugh at the dude.
Heres what he should have said (and probably wanted to say): "we dont hit in the clutch, our starters dont come prepared, we dont have a closer and on some nights our offense gets a case of limp dick." At least that would have been honest. At least fans would respect him.
Hell, Bill Belichick has no problem speaking his mind after a Patriots loss. That reminds me, the Patriots first preseason game is Thursday!
