From John Farrells introductory press conference:
"This situation, coming to Boston, came about a year ago after spending one year in Toronto. The request was denied. In my conversations with Paul (Beeston) and Alex (Anthopoulos), I expressed to them at that time, yes, this is a place I cut my teeth as a major league coach. We experienced a lot of success."
"I was very candid and honest with them and when it came up again this year on the heels of two extensive days of conversations in a year-end reviews, I expressed the same interest again and fortunately all parties were able to work out this trade."
I know Ive been giving him shit lately but I think Ive come around on John Farrell. Im being totally serious. I watched the press conference today and I kinda like the guy.
He just comes across as a major league manager. Maybe its because Im used to seeing that clown Bobby Valentine out there. I dont know. But John Farrell is a ballsy, brutally honest, I-dont-give-a-shit-what-you-think kinda guy and I like it.
There arent too many guys out there who would have the balls to go on the record and admit theyve wanted out of their previous managerial job for the past year. But he did.
And the fact that Jon Lester has a massive hard on for the dude is a major plus. Lester has been very open about his man crush on Farrell and Im sure there are other players who feel the same way but arent as vocal. I like where this is going.
I know I said that we can all expect the Shit Show Part 2 with him at the helm, but this guy really does seems like a great choice. Boy do I feel like a dick right now.
