Realistically, I knew Terry Francona wasn’t going to come back to manage the Red Sox. But a part of me had this fantasy that maybe, just maybe, he might be a modern day Billy Martin. You know, that he would get fired, re hired, fired, rehired, etc.
Well, its not going to happen. They are never ever ever getting back together. Francona is officially the manager of the Cleveland Indians.
And this doesn’t seem to be some sort of temporary job or a gateway to a better gig. Francona has roots in Cleveland. His father played their until he was five years old and he is reportedly close with Indians President Mark Shapiro, Indians GM Chris Antonetti .
He said, "because of Chris and Mark and my relationship, I am excited to tackle or attempt to tackle every challenge that comes our way and do it together.” Yea, so he’s moved on. Looks like our wet dream will not come true. Daddy isn’t coming home, people. He just re married and is starting a new life.
I kinda knew this day would come. But now that its here and I know all hope is lost…it friggin sucks.
