“Tom Brady has a lot of young guys and I’m sure he could use some veteran help and I would love to play for a guy like Bill Belichick and play with a quarterback like Tom.
You never know how management is thinking, what their process is as far as bringing in veterans. I understand they may look at my age as an issue but I’m not your average 39-year-old.
I think if you watch me work out, I’m not really concerned about injuries or anything like that. Plus, I’ll be getting paid the vet minimum, so it’s not like I am asking for any extra incentive in my contract."
At this point, there is nothing to lose and everything to gain. But I get the feeling that Bill Belichick is going to wait for the shit to hit the fan before he signs a veteran...and that sucks.
In my mind, the shit has already hit the fan. Tom Brady is frustrated as hell with these young guys and has already gone to the media to call them out publicly on few different occasions.
During training camp, he told the media that talking to rookie receivers is like talking to his 3-year-old son and that they "dont listen." He also said, when talking about his rookie receivers, that, "this isnt tiddlywinks. This is real football. This is a real job."
Honestly, Tom Brady doesn’t deserve to be thrown out there week after week with guys who, before this season, had zero NFL experience. Brady is a future Hall of Fame quarterback. When he retires, he will be known as the best quarterback in the history of the NFL. The fact that he has to suffer through what is basically a rebuilding of this receiving corps is bullshit.
There is no reason not to sign Terrell Owens. They can still develop these young guys with one veteran on this team. I respect the hell out of Bill Belichick, I really do. But the guy has to treat Tom Brady with more respect. He deserves at least one veteran who knows how to run a friggin route in the NFL.
If the Patriots dont sign a veteran soon, Tom Brady's temper tantrums on the sidelines are only going to get worse. And I wont blame him one bit.
