Tom Brady Responded To That ESPN Article That Says He Isnt A Top 5 QB Anymore...And His Response Is About What I Expected.

An article on last week garnered a great deal of attention by claiming that Brady was no longer one of the NFL’s top five quarterbacks.

Tom Brady acknowledged Monday that statistics do matter. But the only statistics that matter are wins and losses. Analytics, passer rating, completion percentage under pressure . . . Brady has no use for them.

“You can’t sit here and compare one year to another year, compare this player to that player. I think winning games is the most important thing, certainly for this organization.

When you come here, you learn that pretty quickly: Whatever matters to you as an individual, it’s far distant from what the team goals are. And the team goal is one thing: to score more points than the other team.”

I think Bill Belichick said it best when he once said, "stats are for losers."  They are.  Stats are for losers.  When all is said and done, Tom Brady will go down as the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.  Peyton Manning won't, Drew Brees won't and Aaron Rodgers won't.  That says it all.

That ESPN article pissed a lot of people off.  It was bullshit and it was yellow journalism at its best.  I mean, it garnered a lot of attention and probably drew a lot of traffic to their site...but that's about all it did.

I didnt talk about it when it first came out, because I thought it was bullshit and I still think its bullshit.  And it's nice to know Tom Brady feels the same way.
