The first shot by Richard Sherman during Super Bowl week has been fired. The Seattle Seahawks cornerback, in the team's introductory media news conference on Sunday, was asked about potential discipline that could come down on their Super Bowl counterparts, the New England Patriots, in response to the deflate-gate incident.
"Will they be punished? Probably not. Not as long Robert Kraft and Roger Goodell are still taking pictures at their respective homes. [Goodell] was just at Kraft’s house last week before the AFC championship. Talk about conflict of interest. As long as that happens, it won’t affect them at all.”
What a way to represent his organization, huh? He could have taken the high road. He could have just deflected the question or said that deflated footballs don't really give a team a competitive advantage. But he didn't. He had to be a dick about it.
Just assuming the Patriots did something wrong is kinda douchey. And using this as a way to take a shot at Roger Goodell is just unprofessional. What's ironic is this loudmouthed douchebag will probably get fined for calling out Roger Goodell and the Patriots won't get punished at all (because they didn't do anything).
Then he'll probably bitch about that too. Stay tuned.
